At Issue: Global Warming

Get with the program

One wonders what hole those three commissioners crawled out of. Could those three Mouseketeers have gone to school? If they had, our educational system is in far worse trouble than one ever thought. And did no one else run from their districts? Is that all those districts had to offer? One cannot help but ponder these questions.

I am certain those three, Wheelock, Thomas and Underwood, will next tell us the world is flat. One can only hope the people who put them in office can now see their mistake and correct it in the next election.

Global warming, the scientists of the world are wrong and, to top it off, they must be "socialists.” Wow! Can it get any worse?

This disease of the brain is permeating our political system. Is there a cure out there?

Progressing backwards

Addison "Sonny” Wheelock, Dick Thomas and Margaret Underwood, the self-annointed climate experts of northwestern Michigan. I think I'll send an e-mail to the sun and ask why we've been baking the last couple of decades.

These are the same three nuclear physicists who think that smoking in restaurants and bars is what's best for the citizens of Grand Traverse County. I've lived here a little less than three years, and I'm seriously beginning to believe that I'm stuck in the 1970s, especially with folks like these at the helm.

No conspiracy here

Wait! This isn't April Fools' Day — or is it? Is the Record-Eagle kidding or do members of our county commission still believe that global warming is a socialist conspiracy? Gadzooks! What will the next unproven theory be? We really aren't having climate change, droughts or potholes in Grand Traverse County?

Or maybe commission members should do some serious reading about climate change and appreciate that a whole bunch of (local) citizens are expressing their (democratic right) concerns about where these "attitudes” have failed to take us in improving our interaction and concern for the environment.

At least they are not taking the easy route in an attempt to slam global warming. Easy answers do not work for complicated issues.
