The Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce is offering something new, a Business Before Hours event, starting at 7:30 a.m. March 22 at Manistee National Golf and Resort. The event will end by 9 a.m. and include a short program, the opportunity for participants to speak (one minute) about their businesses and coffee and rolls. Local law enforcement officials will discuss how best to handle business issues such as bad checks, retail fraud, employee theft, shoplifting, identity theft and other types of fraud and scams. Seminar The Procurement Technical Assistance Center of the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments will sponsor the seminar "The Basics of Exporting and Graceland Fruit: Lessons Learned, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. March 20 at the Michigan Works! Personnel file Dave Tupper has been promoted to wealth management advisor within the Investment Advisors Division of Fifth Third Bank in Traverse City. He is responsible for development of new personal trust client relationships as well as wealth planning for the Private Client Group. Prior to his promotion, Tupper was working as a manager for Fifth Third Securities in Traverse City. James Masters has been promoted to credit manager in the Commercial Lending Division of Fifth Third Bank in Traverse City. He started with the bank in 1998 as a credit analyst. Peggy Campbell has been hired as mortgage loan officer for Northwestern Bank's south Grand Traverse area, including Interlochen and Kingsley. She will be based at the bank's Chum's Corner office on U.S. 31 South next to Menards. Campbell brings more than 25 years of lending experience to her new position. New business Rod Call of Petoskey, has launched Snoloha, a new clothing company that produces a line of affordable, casual T-shirts and apparel for men, women and children. Snoloha introduced its clothing on the Web in the fall of 2006. Apparel is available from select regional retailers and on the Web at www.snoloha.com. Certification Ronald C. Brand, of Gaylord, a surveyor with Bob Mitchell and Associates, is among the first group of 69 professional land surveyors nationwide to receive a new federal certification from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Brand has received a CFedS certification (Certified Federal Surveyor) after completing extensive training and passing a certification examination. The program was designed specifically to enhance the level of knowledge and expertise of professionals conducting survey work on federal lands and especially on Indian trust lands. Carole Louise Heiderer of Greenridge Realty in Traverse City has successfully completed the Realtor d-PRO course offered through the National Association of Realtors. The course is designed to provide real estate professionals with the technology tools to assist buyers and sellers with Internet real estate research. Recognition Traverse City artist Chris Lensch's work is the main exhibit at Bluebottle Art Gallery in Seattle. Lensch's fourth solo show includes mixed medium, colorful, small works placed in shadow boxes or on wood panels. The exhibit runs through March 31.
