03/12/2007Teams advance to stateTRAVERSE CITY Students from several local Odyssey of the Mind teams will compete in the state tournament on April 14. The following teams advanced after regional competition on March 10 at Traverse City East Junior High. The Ranatra Fusca award for outstanding creativity went to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Traverse City West Senior High Team A, Mill Creek Elementary and Frankfort Elementary. Regional Ranatra Fusca winners automatically advance to state finals. Tag 'em Division I: Frankfort Elementary, first; Immaculate Conception Elementary, second. Tag 'em Division 2: Westwoods Elementary, first; Northern Lakes Community Church, second. The Large And Small of It Division 1: Central Grade School, first; Lakeland Elementary, second; Interlochen Elementary, third. The Large And Small of It Division 2: Glen Lake, first; Mancelona Middle School, second. Around The World in Eight Minutes Division 1: Manton Team A, first; Frankfort Elementary, second; Eastern Elementary Team A, third; Westwoods Elementary, Glen Lake and Lewiston, tie for fourth. Around The World in Eight Minutes Division 2: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, first and Ranatra Fusca; Benzie Central, second; Glen Lake, third; Mackinaw Trail Middle School, fourth. Around The World in Eight Minutes Division 3: Manton Team A, first; Northern Michigan Christian, second; Traverse City West Senior High Team A, fourth and Ranatra Fusca. Out Of The Box Balsa Division 1: Interlochen Pathfinder, first; Leland, second; Mill Creek Elementary, fifth and Ranatra Fusca. Out Of The Box Balsa Division 2: Traverse City West Junior HIgh, first; Frankfort Elementary, second. I'm Only Thinking Of You Division 1: Crystal Lake Elementary, first; Lake Leelanau St. Mary, second; Eastern Elementary Team A, third. I'm Only Thinking Of You Division 2: Leland, first; Mancelona Middle School, second; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, third. I'm Only Thinking Of You Division 3: Traverse City West Senior High Team A, first; Mancelona High School, second. The OMer award went to Traverse City West Junior High. Scores for all competing teams are available online at www.miodyssey.com. State competition will be held April 14 at Traverse City Central High School and Northwestern Michigan College.
