Rascals slip past the Bums

River City never trails in 7-5 win

TRAVERSE CITY — The River City Rascals scored the first four runs of the game — highlighted by a home run to deep left field by Angel Colon — to beat the Traverse City Beach Bums 7-5 at Wuerfel Park on Sunday.

River City scored a run in each of the first two innings on sacrifice flies by Bobby Mosby and Tim Rowe.

The Rascals (9-16) made it 4-0 with a run in the top of the fifth inning as Ryan Czyz scored all the way from second base on a wild pitch.

The Bums (10-15) got on board in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run home run by Curtis Ledbetter, his second of the season.

River City got two more runs in the seventh inning on Phil Laurent's two-out, two-run single off reliever Steve Shippey. The Rascals also scored in the eighth inning on a throwing error.

In the seventh inning, Jeff Vincent drove in a run for TC on a fielder's choice and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Justin Holmes had three of the Bums' 10 hits while Ledbetter added two, including the homer.
