Traverse City Beach Bums infielder Jeff Brown(*) fields a ground ball against the Gateway Grizzlies Friday at Wuerfel Park. TRAVERSE CITY Toro Trevino improved to 3-0 Friday night as the Gateway Grizzlies beat the Traverse City Beach Bums 5-3 in the finale of a three-game Frontier League series at Wuerfel Park. Trevino went 6&1/3 innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. Relievers James Hertel and Eric Ridener kept the Beach Bums in check, although Ridener did strand two runners in the ninth. It was his eighth save of the season. Gateway (18-5) never trailed in the contest. The Grizzlies scored in the second without the benefit of a hit off loser Dan Hawkins (0-3). Dustin Roberts walked, stole second, moved to third on a fielder's choice and scored on an error. Gateway extended the lead to 2-0 in the third as Eric Beck doubled in Roberts, who had singed with two out. The Bums got one back in the fourth J.T. Thomas walked, took third on Takeshi Yamamoto's single and scored on an error. Roberts greeted reliever Phil Tognetti with a two-run blast in the fifth to make it 4-1. The Grizzlies added a solo run in the seventh. Traverse City (9-14) responded with two in the bottom of the seventh on RBI singles by Justin Holmes and Jeff Vincent. Clearing the Record
