Traverse City Beach Bums pitcher Bryan Rembisz fires one to the plate on Tuesday. TRAVERSE CITY The way the Traverse City Beach Bums have been playing, they aren't going to want the season to end. Led by the pitching of Bryan Rembisz and sparked by a two-run homer from Kyle Bradburry, the Bums defeated the Rockford RiverHawks 6-3 in front of 3,072 fans at Wuerfel Park on Tuesday night. With the victory, TC improved its record to 44-47, the closest the Bums have been to the .500 mark since they were 9-12 on June 13. Traverse City must win four of its final five games all at home to break even for the season. Since slipping to 26-37 on July 30, the Bums have gone 18-10. Rembisz (7-0) allowed two runs on six hits in 6&1/3 innings. Brett Bostleman worked a 1-2-3 eighth and Tyler Meigs also set Rockford down in order in the ninth to earn his 10th save. Curtis Ledbetter singled and doubled to extend his hitting streak to 23 games, and Sam Orr singled to extend two streaks he has a hit in nine straight contests and has reached base in 24 in a row. Justin Holmes and Brad Vericker each contributed two hits. Bradburry's two-run homer came in the second and gave the Bums a 3-1 lead. Orr and Holmes each had RBI singles in the sixth. James Cramphin (4-4) took the loss. TC and Rockford play again with Ryan Gehring (6-8, 4.35 ERA) making his final start for the Bums against Dave Dowling (6-5, 3.54).
