Rembisz, Bums shut out Paints

Vericker blasts grand slam in 7th

TRAVERSE CITY — August has been kind to the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Bryan Rembisz threw eight shutout innings and Brad Vericker hit a grand slam in the seventh inning as the Traverse City Beach Bums blanked Chillicothe 6-0 on Thursday.

The win pulls the Bums (40-46) within six games of .500, as the team has a 13-9 mark this month. The Beach Bums have won three of four on their current home stand, which continues today against the Paints.

Rembisz (6-0) notched his team-leading sixth win.

Zach Kalter lashed a two-run single in the first inning to give him 14 RBIs in August, second only to Aaron Garza for TC.

Matt Dillard pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out two, to complete Traverse City's sixth shutout of the season.
