08/18/2007Bums break through in eighth to top FreedomFLORENCE, Ky. The Traverse City Beach Bums broke open a 5-5 game with three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat the Florence Freedom 8-6 on Thursday in a game delayed over an hour by rain. Brad Roblin had a two-run single to center and Steve Young followed with a RBI single to center in the decisive seventh inning. The Bums scored their first five runs in the second through fourth innings. Traverse City scored twice in the second inning on a RBI double by Zack Kalter and a run-scoring groundout by Young and added one when Aaron Garza led off the third inning with his ninth home run in his fifth straight game of the season. The Bums plated two in the fourth on a balk and a RBI double by Garza. Brett Bostelman (2-1), the fourth of six Bums pitchers, picked up the victory while Nick Pepper tossed two hitless innings for his fourth save of the season. The Bums finished with 12 hits. Young, Curtis Ledbetter, Garza, Justin Holmes and Kalter each had two.
