Freedom victorious in extra innings

FLORENCE, Ky. — Nate Yoho singled up the middle to bring home the winning run in the 10th inning to notch a 4-3 win for the Florence Freedom.

The Freedom evened the series after the Traverse City Beach Bums took Tuesday's game, 12-5.

Greg Stone scored the winning run after getting on base on a fielder's choice. Ryan Basham walked and Beau Blacken was intentionally given a pass by Jeremy Dow to get to Yoho.

Jeff Brown hit a two-out home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Beach Bums up 3-2, but Florence countered with a run of its own in the bottom of the frame on a Nick Salotti bloop single to force extra innings.

David Nathanson had a perfect game going through five innings before the Freedom broke through for a pair of hits in the sixth, scoring their first run on an Andrew Smith RBI single.

Aaron Garza hit his team-leading eighth home run in the first inning, a two-run shot to give TC a 2-0 lead.
