TRAVERSE CITY — What a difference a week makes.

On July 29, the Traverse City Beach Bums were within one broken-bat single of becoming perfect-game victims of Southern Illinois pitcher Nick Tisone.

On Friday night at Wuerfel Park, however, the Bums roughed up Tisone and pulled out a 7-5 victory over the Miners with a two-run eighth inning.

Aaron Garza, the only batter to reach base against Tisone the first time around, had two RBI doubles for Traverse City (29-38). His second double, off reliever Rick Hummel, scored pinch runner R.C. Dickerson from first to snap a 5-5 tie. Garza scored an insurance run on Matt Rademacher's single.

Ryan Gehring (5-7) aloowed two earned runs in eight innings for the win, while Tyler Meigs pitched the ninth to earn his fourth save.

In addition to Garza, who extended his hitting streak to 10 games, three others had two hits each for Traverse City — Brad Roblin Steve Young and Curtis Ledbetter. Zack Kalter, Ledbetter and Kyle Bradburry had RBIs.
