05/05/2006Residents look at Sugar Loaf plansCEDAR Dozens of Leelanau County residents gathered to get a glimpse of Sugar Loaf Resort's redevelopment plans. The Cleveland Township Planning Commission spent almost two hours Wednesday reviewing the shuttered resort's proposed overhaul, as outlined by representatives of new owner Kate Wickstrom. Plans include snowboard and skateboard facilities, new condominium units at the lodge, an RV park and more housing. Commission secretary Brian Price said a formal review schedule has not been determined. The township will set up an escrow account for developers to pay for a planning consultant and legal help to help process the application. Price said around 50 residents attended the meeting with several questions and comments. "There's a lot of interest in what's going to happen at Sugar Loaf," Price said. See related story:
