TC gymnasts floor Cadillac

      Traverse City gymnasts have been working on increasing the difficulty in their routines.
      On Wednesday, they were rewarded.
      Traverse City - a co-op team between West and Central - posted its highest score of the season in beating Cadillac 130.95-114.7.
      Traverse City Central sophomores Kelsey Hyde and Ashleigh Shea won Division 1 and Division 2 all-around with scores of 33.5 and 32.45.
      Hyde, the only competitor in Division 1, had an 8.8 on vault, 7.85 on bars, 8.1 on beam and 8.75 in floor.
      In Division 2, Shea won vault (8.8) and bars (8.25) and placed second in floor (8.4).
      Traverse City West freshman Ashley Leitner and Central junior Sam Rigan tied for second in all-around with a 31.6. Leitner won beam (8.4) and floor (8.65) and took second on bars (7.65). Rigan was second on vault (8.2) and beam (8.3) and third in floor (8.1).
      West junior Annie Zimmerman placed third on vault (8.0).
      Cadillac's Katie Redes finished third on bars (7.35) and beam (8.25).

SKIING
Glen Lake girls, Benzie boys prevail
      Ali Drake swept the slalom and giant slalom Wednesday as the Glen Lake girls won a Lake Michigan Ski Conference race at Schuss Mountain.
      Glen Lake finished with 54 points. Bellaire was second with 36. The Eagles were followed by Manistee (84), Onekama (108) and Benzie (118).
      Drake took the slalom in 1:16.40. Manistee's Katie Bramble was second (1:16.42). Bellaire's Emily Lowery and Kaila Filmore third (1:23.07) and fourth (1:23.64) and Glen Lake's Sarah Wiesen fifth (1:23.68).
      In the GS, Drake posted a time of 56.05. She was followed by Bramble (56.48), Wiesen (1:00.50), Bellaire's Rachel Eklund (1:01.44) and Benzie's Whitney Ayers (1:02.67).
      Benzie captured the boys' meet with 43 points. Trailing were Manistee (63), Bellaire (85), Glen Lake (107) and Onekama (176).
      Manistee's Conor Pelton swept the slalom (1:06.20) and GS (50.97).
      Bellaire's Tom Nichols was second (1:07.30) in the slalom. Right behind were Benzie's Eric Baumeler (1:09.64) and Wiley Heller (1:09.82) and Glen Lake's Kris Marin (1:12.22).
      In the GS, Nichols (51.09), Baumeler (53.10), Marin (53.71) and Heller (53.87) placed 2-5.

Glen Lake 0

      Megan Schelle had 22 kills and 16 digs Wednesday night to lead Benzie Central to a 25-21, 25-12, 25-15 non-conference volleyball win over Glen Lake.
      Katie Allen (15 kills, 16 digs), Ashley McClelland (11 kills, 12 digs) and Brianne Lindsay (24 of 26 serving) also played pivotal roles for the Huskies (13-18-1).
      Glen Lake was led by Lindsey Dusen (10 of 10 serving, 11 assists, 11 digs), Jessica Odziana (7 kills, 18 digs) and Sarah Zywicki (9 of 10 serving with 2 aces, 13 digs, 4 kills).
      Benzie plays in the Charlevoix tournament this Saturday.
     
Mesick 3
Manton 0

      Mesick swept Manton 25-16, 25-13, 25-23 in a Northwest Conference match.
      Manton was paced by Lacie Miller (12 digs, 3 aces, 1 kill), Kacy O'Dell (6 kills, 6 digs), Kayla Nielsen (4 kills, 7 digs) and Morgan Emery (4 kills).
     
TC East 2
St. Francis frosh 1

      Traverse City East rallied to beat the St. Francis freshmen 25-27, 25-22, 25-22.
      East was led by Emma Berger (8 kills), Haley Engle (8 kills, 18 assists), Dori Lansbach (5 kills), Rachel Radakovich (7 kills), Mariah Sika and Whitney Strait (17 assists).
