Northwest showdown set
MANTON - The showdown is set.
Kingsley and Suttons Bay remained perfect in the Northwest Conference volleyball race Monday.
Now the two teams will meet Wednesday at Suttons Bay. It's a makeup from a match that was postponed earlier this month due to inclement weather.
Kingsley improved to 3-0 in the Northwest with a 25-8, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17 win at Manton.
Lauren Summerfield (13 kills, 18 digs, 13 of 15 serving, three blocks), Angela Bodjack (seven kills, 12 of 12 serving, five digs), Brittany Denter (31 assists, 9 of 10 serving, eight digs) and Jessica Dine (24 of 25 serving with four aces, two kills) paced Kingsley.
Manton was led by Lacie Miller (25 digs), Kacy O'Dell (14 digs), Kendra Baty (15 digs), Jaimie Heft (17 assists) and Kayla Nielsen (nine kills).
Suttons Bay 3
Frankfort 0
Suttons Bay kept pace with Kingsley with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-19 Northwest win over Frankfort.
The Norse (27-5-4, 3-0 in the Northwest) were led by Holly Orban (15 of 15 serving with four aces, six digs, 11 kills, two blocks), Kelsey Wick (13 of 13 serving with two aces, eight kills, eight digs), Christa Neskey (11 assists, five digs), Anna Prior (nine aces, nine assists, two digs), Fran Belanger (two assists, two digs), Maggie Walters (eight kills, one block), Charlotte Stowe (nine digs, one block, four kills) and Cecelia Aguago (seven digs).

Jessica Odziana was 23 of 24 serving with nine kills as Glen Lake beat Mesick 19-25, 25-11, 25-5, 17-25.
Odziana also finished with seven digs and six kills.
Also pacing the Lakers (8-10, 3-1 in the Northwest): Sabrina Galla (five digs, 16 assists), Sarah Zywicki (seven digs, nine kills) and Lindsey Dusen (six aces, seven kills, six assists).

Alpena 0
Traverse City Central disposed of Alpena 25-13, 25-16, 25-22 in a Big North Conference match.
The Trojans were paced by Victoria Clauer (two kills, four aces, four blocks, six digs), Corie Larkin (11 kills), Caurey Ashton (five kills), Brittany O'Neal (three kills), Barbara Burke (11 assists, four digs) and Maddie Lagina (12 assists, two aces).
SKI VALLEY

Forest Area improved to 5-0 in the Ski Valley with a 25-9, 26-24, 25-14 win over Central Lake.
The Warriors (18-9-4) were led by Maria Babrick (24 assists), Lizzy Shy (nine kills, nine digs, five aces), Kari Ingersoll (six kills, 12 of 12 serving), Juliana Barbiere (11 digs, three aces, five kills), Ashley Pomorski (four kills, three aces), Kayla Helsel and Sammantha Haas.
Pellston wins two,
now 28-2-3 overall
Like Forest Area, Pellston remained unbeaten in the Ski Valley with a 25-9, 25-9, 25-16 win over Onaway.
The Hornets (28-2-3, 4-0 in th Ski Valley) also beat Mackinaw City 25-8, 25-13, 25-16.
Sparking the two wins were Amy Bachleda (eight aces, nine kills), Gabby Bachleda (two aces, nine kills), Ashlee Lechowicz (three aces, 11 digs), Whitney Litzner (six kills, three blocks), Holly Burkhart (four aces, 15 kills), Jill McNitt (six aces, 12 kills, 48 assists) and Kara Friend (nine kills, five blocks).

Inland Lakes rallied to beat Gaylord St. Mary 19-25, 25-21, 21-17, 25-21.
Jessi Palmer led St. Mary with five kills, seven aces and seven assists.

The Traverse City Central JV impoved to 3-3 in the Big North with a 25-17, 25-10, 27-25 win over Alpena.
Leslie Valentine (four aces, six digs), Emily Burke (11 assists, seven digs) and Laura Stepke (11 digs, six kills, three blocks, three aces) paced the Trojans.

Traverse City East defeated Alpena 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.
East was led by Rachel Radakovich (two kills), Haley Engle (eight assists), Whitney Strait (five kills, 11 assists) and Dori Lansbach (three kills).

Charlevoix 72
Elk Rapids 61
Mitch Crandall scored 21 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as Charlevoix beat Elk Rapids 72-61 in a Lake Michigan Conference game.
Crandall hit seven 3-pointers in the first half as the Rayders (6-4, 4-3) opened a 43-26 lead. He also finished with eight rebounds and five steals. Dustin Dibble contributed 22 points, Tyler Haske seven assists and Matt Kautz five steals and five assists.
Mason Yankee's 25 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks paced the Elks (2-8, 1-6). Cory William added 16 points and four assists.
BOWLING
TC West edges Central
to take control
With just two regular season weeks left in the Great Northwest High School Bowling Conference, the Traverse City West girls took control by beating crosstown rival Traverse City Central 15½-14½.
It was the closest match in conference history.
The Titans improved to 6-0 with the victory. The Trojans dropped to 4-2. West's Dani Pahl led the way with a series of 441 (236,205). Molly Valleau (191) Caitlin Barringer (182) and Nikki Manville (187) also contributed to the win. The Trojans rolled a 206 Baker game early in the match. Kari Tomaski's 396 series (216, 180) was high scorer for the Trojans. Valleau closed out the match and the crucial two points available as the Titans beat the Trojans by just 14 pins overall.
In the boys race, Traverse City West improved to 6-0. The Gold beat Elk Rapids 27-3. Dan Hirst led the Titans with a 411 series (207, 203). Nathan Arends had a 196 game. Jacob Wilson rolled a 206 game for the Elks (3-3). Central beat TC Christian to improve to 4-2. Steve Tate's 199 and Matt Rosinski's 180 led the Trojans. St. Franics beat Benzie 27-3 as Marcus Oien's 446 (247,199) and Jeff Sharp's 210 were high for the Gladiators (3-3). Ryan Tims (226) and Lucas Joslin (200) led the Huskies (3-3).
In the girls race, Elk Rapids improved to 4-2 by beating Benzie 27½-7 ½. Stacie Louiselle's pair of 169 games led the Elks. Kristi Moore's 151 was high for the Huskies (2-4). Sarah Wise (163) and Courtney Armstrong (160) led the Trojan JV (3-3) over the Titan Gold JV (0-6) 29-1. In the JV boys race, Central, led by Kyle Hallman's 172 game, beat Elk Rapids 26-4. Dan Werth rolled a 157 for the Elks. Adam Bugai (175) and Reese O'Mara (167) led the West Green JV team over the West Gold JV team 26-4.
