January 17, 2006Tax evader receives 27 months in prisonTRAVERSE CITY - A Cedar man who told the Internal Revenue Service he was not a United States citizen and not subject to income tax was sentenced to 27 months in prison.Lynn N. Ealy, 52, also was ordered to pay restitution of $84,174 by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Alan Enslen, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office. Ealy was found guilty after a trial in August. Jurors heard evidence that Ealy earned around $239,000 between 1999 and 2001 through his company, God's Country Builders, but he stopped paying taxes in 1993, according to the press release.
