Buckley edges Northport

NORTHPORT - Buckley, down by as many as 11 points in the first half, rallied to beat Northport 70-61 in a Cherryland Conference basketball game Tuesday.
The Bears remained unbeaten in the league (10-6, 7-0). The game was deadlocked at 61 before Buckley scored the game's final nine points.
Justin Weaver led the way, scoring a game-high 39 points. Chad Allen added 14.
Drew Mitchell's 28 points and 7 rebounds paced Northport (9-7, 4-3). Cody Brown chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds and Jeff Kopchia 11 points.
Leland 79
Lake Leelanau SM 51
Five players scored in doubles for Leland as the Comets rolled past Lake Leelanau St. Mary, 79-51.
Marcus Whittaker led Leland (5-9, 3-3) with 16 points. Wade Nedow added 14 points, Ben Schaub and Adam Nedow 13, and Jordan Gibson 10.
St. Mary was paced by Adam Konieczka with 16 points and Jordan Peplinski with 15.
LAKE MICHIGAN
Grayling 73
Kalkaska 57
Free throws and defense keyed Grayling's 73-57 Lake Michigan Conference win over Kalkaska.
Grayling (14-2, 8-2 Lake Michigan) scored on 25-of-35 free throws and limited Kalkaska to only eight points from the line.
The Blazers held the Vikings top scorer, Eli VanNuck, with out a field goal.
Bobby Starks led the Vikings in scoring with 17, followed by Steve Hodge with 11 and Reagan Schmidt with 10.
The Blazers (9-7, 7-3 Lake Michigan) were paced by Aaron Swoverland with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Corey Heier added 11 points and Chris Keller 8 for Kalkaska.
SKI VALLEY
Bellaire 80
Mancelona 40
Bellaire doubled up Mancelona 80-40 in Ski Valley Conference play.
Mike McClary paced Bellaire with 20 points, followed by Scott Mason with 11 and Erik Edwards with 10.
Bobby Flake scored 12 points and Jeremy Howard 10 to lead the Ironmen (9-6, 7-4 Ski Valley).
Shawn Booth led Mancelona in rebounds with 7.
Central Lake 79
Forest Area 59
Central Lake topped Forest Area 79-59 in Ski Valley Conference action.
Josh Moffat led Central Lake with 17 points.
Ben Brown tallied 19 points and 7 rebounds for Forest Area (6-10, 2-9 Ski Valley).
Jessie Cecil added 13 points and 3 assists while Zack Roys had 9 points and 9 rebounds for the Loggers.

Mike Smith scored on an offensive rebound with 17 seconds to go to spark Gaylord St. Mary to a 55-53 win over Boyne Falls.
Smith's basket put the Snowbirds up one. They added a free throw in the final seconds.
Tom Webber netted 13 points and Greg Borowiak 11 for St. Mary. Jim Gross tossed in 19 points and Trevor Matelski 11 for Boyne Falls (10-4).
Benzie Central 71

Tyler Moss scored 15 points and Ryan Davis 13 as Benzie Central defeated Elk Rapids 71-63.
Mason Yankee's 24 points and 10 rebounds led the Elks (3-13).

Jeff Keyser poured in 22 points to lead East Jordan to a 57-39 victory over Ellsworth.
Chris Becker added 10 points for East Jordan while Jared Stemwyk led Ellsworth (4-11) with 13 points.

Boyne City 58
Gaylord recovered from a 12-point halftime deficit to edge Boyne City, 60-58.
The Ramblers led 33-21 at halftime, but were outscored by Gaylord 16-7 in the third quarter and 23-18 in the fourth.
James Conway scored 22 points for the Blue Devils and Nick Freeman 13.
Boyne City (6-9) was led by Grant Ameel with 15 points, Taylor Voice 13 and Rob Jensen10.

James Bloomfield netted 23 points and Chad Murray 13 to lead Lake City past Suttons Bay, 59-45.
Ray Freund had a double-double for Suttons Bay (8-7) with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Ben Darling chipped in with 8 points, 4 steals, 4 assists.
