Landmark tree in Leland is targeted

SUTTONS BAY — The Leelanau County Road Commission today will consider possible trimming or removal of a landmark tree in Leland.

Herb Cradduck, road commission superintendent and manager, said the county received numerous complaints from neighboring business owners about large branches falling from a white poplar that stands about 100 feet high and overlooks the Leland Harbor.

Road commissioners will meet at 1 p.m. today at 10550 E. Eckerle Road in Suttons Bay.
