Northport and Suttons Bay will play a soccer rubber game on Friday with a Division 4 district title on the line. The game at the Keystone Fields in Traverse City is set for 4 p.m. Northport (11-5-1) blanked Glen Lake 4-0 on Wednesday to advance. The Norsemen topped TC Christian 3-2 in double overtime to advance. Northport won the first meeting between the two schools, 1-0. Suttons Bay came back to win the second 2-1. Northport coach Marshall Collins said the third meeting promises to be just as close. "For sure," Collins said. "The past couple of years it's been pretty good matches between us. I enjoy it, the kids enjoy it and I think this is what the people want to see." Northport scored twice in each half against Glen Lake. Nathan Scherrer got the Wildcats on the board on an assist from Cody Brown. Freshman Max Raphael made it 2-0 with his first goal of the season on a rebound shot by Brown before intermission. Basil Stowe made it 3-0 on an assist from Cory Connolly before Brown capped off the scoring with an unassisted tally. Drew Mitchell made three saves for Northport while Joe Roman stopped two in the final 20 minutes. Defensive standouts were Matt Kehl, Jackson Pierce and Alex Voigt. "We played well as a team," said Collins, whose team outshot the Lakers 15-5. "We did dominate and control the ball. Glen Lake had spurts, but our defense stepped up and stopped them." Suttons Bay 3 TC Christian 2 Suttons Bay's Blaine Fritz scored 12 seconds into the second overtime to give Suttons Bay a 3-2 win over district host Traverse City Christian. Christian (8-7-2) led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Matt Beemer and Matt Yeiter. Ben Darling scored for the Norse to tie it up at 2-2 in the second half. Eric Collins scored Suttons Bay's first-half goal. Alex Dingrado assisted on Fritz's game-winner. Matt Ness picked up the win in goal as Suttons Bay outshot the Sabres 19-7. The Norse (14-3-1) move on play Northport (11-5-1) in the district final at 4 p.m. Friday at the TBAYS fields on Keystone Road in Traverse City. Elk Rapids 5 Bellaire 0 Mike Greiner scored three goals and added an assist as Elk rapids shut out Bellaire 5-0 in Division 3 district semifinals. Ian Sliger and Brett Banwell added single goals, and Bret Bowerman, Josh Weidman, Garrett Gribi and Banwell had assists. Dan Werth made two stops in goal for the victory for the Elks (15-5-2). Elk Rapids will play No. 10-ranked Roscommon (19-0-1) at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Benzie Central in the district finals. Roscommon advanced to the finals with a 10-0 win over Grayling. The Eagles end their season with a 11-8-1 record. Bellaire forward Alex Scott set a new school record for goals in a season with 24, breaking the previous mark of 21 set by Darren DeFever last year. Eagle goaltender Teddy Maza, who had 11 saves, now holds the school record for career wins as a goal keeper with 40 wins and is ninth in the state for career shut outs with 20. Harbor Springs 3 Kingsford 0 John Ramer, Adam Guath and Elliott Jackson scored goals as Harbor Springs made the long trip to Kingsford worthwhile with a 3-0 Division 3 district semifinal victory. Assists came from Ramer and David Glahn. Kingsford ends the season at 11-5-1. Harbor (12-6) will host the winner of Charlevoix and Boyne City in the district final at 3 p.m. Saturday. Buckley 4 Cadillac Heritage 1 Jesse Shelton and Justin Weaver had two goals as Buckley roared back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Cadillac Heritage Christian, 4-1. "The kids just picked it up strong in the second half and took control," Buckley assistant coach Kevin Walters said. "It was a great effort by all the players." Buckley advances to Friday's Division 4 district final against host Big Rapids Crossroads Academy. Game time is 7 p.m. Jeff Jerrett had two assists and Weaver one. Scott Dixon made 17 saves in net. Joshua Arrington scored the lone goal for Heritage Christian. Brandon Herlein had the assist. Harbor Light Christian 2 Burt Lake NMCA 0 Rob Wendt scored a pair of goals - one in each half - to lift Harbor Light Christian to a 2-0 victory over Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy. Harbor Light advances to Friday's Division 4 district final at Forest Area. Lee Chatfield scored 31 of Burt Lake's 34 goals this season. Burt Lake finished with a 4-16 mark.
