Work bees slated for pathway and trail

      TRAVERSE CITY - Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation Trails will host work bees on the Vasa Pathway and the Leelanau Trail from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 15.
      Volunteers on the Vasa Pathway will spread wood chips, trim trees and prepare the trail for winter use. Work on the Leelanau Trail will include trimming trees, cutting back overgrowth, marking root damage and ensuring there are clear vision areas at intersections.
      Volunteers should bring work gloves, pitchforks, shovels, loppers, bow saws, trash bags and dress appropriately for the weather.
      Meeting points are at the Vasa Pathway trailhead off Bartlett Road in Acme Township and the Leelanau Trail trailhead on Cherry Bend Road in Elmwood Township. For more information, call 941-4300.
