Sets sink Suttons Bay

MUSKEGON - The sun finally set on the most successful soccer season in Suttons Bay history.
North Muskegon scored twice on set plays - one in each half - to beat Suttons Bay 2-1 on Wednesday in a Division 4 state semifinal in Muskegon.
"They put two set plays together on us that came back to bite us in the end," said first-year Suttons Bay coach Thomas Singer, whose team finished with a 18-4-1 record.
But even though the season came to an end, Singer said it was a successful one.
"I couldn't be any happier for them," Singer said. "It was hard for them to lose their existing coach and try and put their faith in a new coach. We all put that aside.
"We had a great run together. We continued to build momentum before the postseason and I think that helped a lot.
"The farther we got and the more we won and the more confidence we had in each other."
Suttons Bay scored first on a header by Jesse Wright off a nice feed from Mike Morrison.
North Muskegon tied the contest with 4:54 left in the first half on a goal by Brandon Houseman on an assist by Grant Sininger.
North Muskegon (20-4-2) netted the game-winning goal 7:45 into the second half. This time it was Sininger that got the goal and Houseman the assist.
