November 9, 2005Consultants to offer final septage reportTRAVERSE CITY - Grand Traverse County officials will soon learn if a proposal to fix its flawed, failed septage treatment plant will pass muster with an engineering consultant. In a 7 p.m. meeting today at the Civic Center, the county Board of Public Works and its sewer and water committee will meet for the first time with the engineering firm it hired in August to get to the bottom of the June 18 collapse of a 150,000 gallon tank at the plant. NTH Consultants will present its final report on the cause of the collapse and problems it found at other facility buildings. Gourdie-Fraser/Christman LLC, the design/builder of the facility, will detail its proposal to fix problems. A public question-and-answer period will follow. If NTH agrees with the fixes, the BPW is expected to allow work to begin on rebuilding the collapsed tank.
