Glen Lake scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull out a 20-14 victory over East Jordan. "It was a fun night," Hollenbeck said. "It was very stressful. East Jordan played a heck of a game. I'm especially pleased with the character of our kids." After a Josh Ritola interception in the fourth quarter, Weston Buchan scored on a 4-yard run. Jason Kemp kicked the extra point to tie the game at 14-14. Colby Thoreson, who ran for 82 yards on 14 carries, scored on a 15-yard run with 2:33 left to win it. Glen Lake had the lone first-half touchdown on a 70-yard interception return. East Jordan had two TD runs in the third quarter to take a 14-7 lead. David Marr, who ran for 139 yards on 27 carries, had the first TD on a 4-yard run while Matt Pater added a 1-yard scoring plunge. Buchan had nine tackles and Thoreson eight stops and a sack for the Glen Lake defense. Frankfort 34 Lincoln-Alcona 0 Garrett Luxford passed for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead Frankfort to a 34-0 victory over Lincoln-Alcona. Luxford completed his first 12 passes, including TD strikes to Connor MacHugh (20 yards), Derek Good (2 yards) and Brandon Pritchard (15 yards). He finished the game 12-for-15 for 201 yards. Pritchard led the receiving corps with three catches for 51 yards. Luxford opened the scoring with a 1-yard TD run. Kevin Nerg added a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He had 88 yards on 10 carries. Kris Snyder was 4-for-5 in extra-point kicks. Leading the defense were Aaron Murray with eight tackles and Nerg with seven tackles and an interception. Josh Bodell, Cory Lietaert and Brent Butler also picked off passes. Frankfort returns to action next Friday at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart. Grayling 26 Roscommon 7 Grayling scored 20 second quarter points to key a 26-7 victory over Roscommon. Joey Bancroft accumulated 131 yards on 21 carries and scored touchdowns from 13 and five yards. Eli VanNuck added 100 yards on six receptions. Bobby Starks ignited the defense with three interceptions; one was returned 42 yards for a touchdown. Charlevoix 35 St. Ignace 0 Drew Klooster and Jeff Golovich each had 10 tackles as the Charlevoix defense earned a 35-0 shutout victory over St. Ignace. Five different players scored touchdowns for the Rayders - Matt Kautz, Kyle Jones, Russell Williams, Travis Burke and Brad Cyr. Williams added three extra-point kicks. Kautz also passed to Matt Kanine for a two-point conversion. Charlevoix hosts Benzie Central next Friday. Bellaire 18 Pellston 14 Bellaire edged Pellston, 18-14 in Ski Valley Conference action on opening Friday. Matt Mikus returned the opening kickoff 74 yards to give Pellston an early 6-0 lead. Jared Rames answered with a 15-yard touchdown run to tie the game, 6-6 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, John Pawson scored on runs of 12 and 7 yards, giving the Eagles a 18-6 lead at intermission. Mikus ran in another touchdown in the third followed by a two-point conversion by Jake Schmalzrieb. Neither team scored in the final quarter. Pawson finished with 125 yards on 21 carries while Skyler Hindes completed 7-of-15 passes for 81 yards. Sean McDaniel led Bellaire's defense with nine tackles and two fumble recoveries. Elk Rapids 14 Mancelona 0 Elk Rapids blanked Mancelona 14-0 in its Lake Michigan Conference opener. Charlie Smith led the Elks with 71 yards on six carries and scored a 25-yard touchdown. Cory William added 56 yards on nine runs and scored from 15 yards out. Smith and Jared Isenhart tallied eight tackles each to lead the defense. Manistee Catholic 35 Mesick 28 Robert Buss ran for 150 yards on 17 carries to lead Manistee Catholic Central past Mesick, 35-28. Buss scored touchdowns on runs of 57 and 2 yards. Braydon Russell went 5-for-9 passing for 83 yards and one touchdown. Gabe Janowiak scored Central's final touchdown.
