April 28, 2005Accused kidnapper faces new chargesByRecord-Eagle staff writer CADILLAC - A Manton man accused of kidnapping his former foster child in Benzie County is facing nine new charges of criminal sexual conduct, this time in neighboring Wexford County. Prosecutor William Fagerman said Dennis Jarvis, 34, was arraigned Tuesday on nine counts for alleged incidents with the 13-year-old between March and August 2004 when the foster child lived with him. Jarvis was arrested March 31 after the Benzie County Sheriff's Department received a tip about a possible abduction attempt of the 13-year-old in Lake Ann. Police said Jarvis was spotted picking up and allegedly taking the teen to a wooded area, where he was arrested. Jarvis, who is in the Benzie County Jail on $100,000 bond for the kidnapping charge and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, now has a $200,000 bond in Wexford for the new counts. This month, Benzie prosecutor Anthony Cicchelli said the teen came forward with information about other encounters with Jarvis that likely would prompt charges in other counties, including Grand Traverse and Wexford. "It is the same investigation and ultimately we will resolve it with an eye on the other charges," Fagerman said. "I am told by the detectives with the Michigan State Police that they are also anticipating charges out of Grand Traverse."
