FREDERICK, 93, of Mancelona, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-Long Term Care.Visitation will be Monday, April 25, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at noon, at the Mancelona Missionary Church. Services for JACK P. WILLIAMS, 91, of Williamsburg, who died Dec. 22, 2004, will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the American Legion Hall in Peck. Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Eloise "Petey" Cleland Died April 19, 2005 KALKASKA - Eloise "Petey" Cleland, 84, formerly of Boyne City and Corunna, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center's Eden Center. Eloise was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Boyne City, to John "Burt" and Verna (Smith) Hartnell. On Feb. 22, 1941, she married Cecil Maynard Cleland, who preceded her in death in January 1977. Eloise enjoyed her ladies Golf League at "Ye Olde Nine" in Boyne City, and the friendships of her Ladies Sorority. She is survived by two sons, Bruce L (Patricia) Cleland and Jon A. (Caryn) Cleland, both of Traverse City; grandsons, Jeff, Brian, Andy and Mitch; granddaughter, Kate; and five great-grandchildren. Eloise was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside service will be held Friday, May 6, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City. Edward G. Papp, DO Died April 9, 2005 PRESCOTT - Edward G. Papp, DO, 88, of Prescott, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 9, 2005. He was born in Detroit of Hungarian immigrants on March 10, 1917. He spent his early life on a farm near Prescott. Dr. Papp graduated from County Normal and taught school in Lupton for two years. He then graduated from Kirksville Osteopathic College in Missouri in 1941. He opened a practice in Hale before settling in Prescott, where he provided medical care for 45 years. Described as "Doctor Extraordinaire" by the area county papers in 1981, Dr. Papp made house calls, as far away as Glennie and Curran, after office hours. Dr. Papp had a passion for photography, antique cars, flying airplanes and hunting of all kinds, which included shooting two moose in Canada. Dr. Papp was chosen by his peers as Michigan Osteopathic Physician of the Year and was past president of the Bay Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and Chief of Staff at Standish Community Hospital. Dr. Papp was also Chief Medical Examiner for Ogemaw and Arenac Counties for nearly twenty years. His epitaph, which he chose, reads, "Office Hours Upstairs." Dr. Papp is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Hull Papp; children, Cheri (Douglas) Covell of Bradenton, Fla., Randy (Janice) Papp of Bellaire and Lynette (James) Cromwell of Alger; grandchildren, Heath and Rick Papp, Cassidy Covell, and Lara and Tyler Cromwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth (Cruz) Papp; sister, Marie Tracey; and infant brother, Richard Papp. Services were held at the Prescott Chapel of the Buresh-Bennett Funeral Home on April 13, 2005, with Pastor Doug Kennedy officiating. Memorials may be made to the Judson Baptist Church in Prescott. Robert Lee Roach Died April 13, 2005 SUN LAKES, Ariz. - Robert Lee "Bob" Roach, 73, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. He was born July 3, 1931, to Beatrice and Orion Roach of Flint. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Brown, in 1952. In 1953, he graduated from Ferris State College with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, and the same year began his service in the United States Army as a Corporal and lab technician. He worked in Mount Clemens as a pharmacist until 1973, when he moved to Traverse City, where he lived for 20 years. He opened Heritage Pharmacy and the business ultimately expanded to three stores in the area. He was active in the BPOE and loved to sing barbershop. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 52 years, Marilyn; their daughter, Sandra Beaubien (48) and her husband, Dennis of Harper Woods; their son, Andrew (47) and his wife, Teri of Phoenix; and son, Michael (44) and his wife, Diana of Chandler, Ariz. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, Adrienne McComsey (31) and her husband, Corey of Eastpointe, Jennifer Roach (22) of Phoenix , Patrick Roach (20) of Phoenix and Leland Roach (11) of Chandler, Arizona; and his great-grandchildren, Payton McComsey (4) and Cameron McComsey (3) of Eastpointe. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
