April 16, 2005List is cut down to fiveByRecord-Eagle staff writer PETOSKEY - Board members at Petoskey Public Schools pared the list of candidates for district superintendent and plan interviews next week. School board president Jack Waldvogel said board members narrowed the field of 20 applicants to five candidates. They are: - Robert Colby, superintendent at Au Gres-Sims Schools; - Curtis Finch, superintendent at Reese Public Schools; - Dena Dardzinski, assistant superintendent at Columbia School District; - Daniel Reattoir, superintendent at Sault Ste. Marie Area Public Schools; - John Scholten, superintendent at Glen Lake Community Schools. "I'm very impressed with the five that we have," Waldvogel said. "Any of them would be way more than adequate and do just a fine job." The board is set to interview candidates at public meetings Wednesday and Thursday, Waldvogel said. Current district superintendent John Jeffrey is retiring when his contract expires at the end of June. The Petoskey school district serves 3,100 students, has nearly 300 employees and an annual budget of about $24 million.
