Just Imagine offers Children's Theatre
      TRAVERSE CITY - Tanya Donahue, instructor at Pathfinder School, will be introducing a new program at Just Imagine Creative Arts Healing Center called the Just Imagine Children's Theatre.
      Students will learn about theater while producing the play, "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson. This program is open to all local students grades 2-5.
      Just Imagine Children's Theatre meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m., April 12-June 2.
      The performance of "The Secret Garden" will be on June 11 at Just Imagine's "Watch Us Grow" annual fund-raiser.
      A portion of the proceeds from the fund-raiser will go to Helen's House, a program of the Women's Resource Center.
      To participate in the Children's Theatre, there is a suggested "love offering" of $95 for the entire period of instruction and performance.

Sheriff seeks student nominees
      PETOSKEY - The Michigan Sheriffs' Association (MSA) is seeking nominations for the 2005 Bernard Grysen Memorial Criminal Justice Scholarship, sponsored by the MSA's Educational Services, Inc.
      Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to Michigan high school seniors pursuing a career in criminal justice, two scholarships in each of the MSA's five state districts.
      Nominations can only be made by a member of the Michigan Sheriffs' Association, excluding the sheriff. Nomination forms must be submitted to Emmet County Sheriff Peter A. Wallin no later than April 22.
      To make a nomination, obtain the form from the Emmet County Sheriff's Office, located at 450 Bay Street, Petoskey, MI 49770, or at the Richard L. Zink Law Enforcement Center, located at 3460 M-119, Harbor Springs, MI 49740.
     
Chagnon lecture set at NMC
      TRAVERSE CITY - Legendary anthropologist Dr. Napoleon Chagnon will present a lecture and slide show on the primitive rainforest tribe, the Yanomamo people of Venezuela and Brazil, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Milliken Auditorium, Dennos Museum Center, Northwestern Michigan College. Admission is free.
      Chagnon's appearance is sponsored by the NMC Student Government Association.

Ferris TC holds info session
      TRAVERSE CITY - Ferris State University will hold an information session for people interested in becoming teachers at the Northwestern Michigan College University Center Thursday at 7 p.m. in room 219.
      Ferris offers a unique master's degree program which allows those with bachelor's degrees in other fields to move into teaching. Through the master of education (M. Ed.), they can build on their current bachelor's degree to earn either elementary or secondary teacher certification.
