Unger ruling will come in 2005

BEULAH - Prosecutors plan to call their last witness Monday in a preliminary hearing for a man accused of killing his wife at a Benzie County resort, but the judge is not expected to rule on the case until next year.
Mark Unger, 44, of Huntington Woods, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Florence.
Randall Thompson, spokesman for the state attorney general, said the final prosecution witness will be a state police sergeant. Unger's defense attorney, Robert Harrison, could call witnesses when the prosecution rests.
Eighty-fifth District Court Judge Brent Danielson has said he will not make a ruling on the case until late January. By that time, the Michigan Court of Appeals is expected to rule on a challenge by prosecutors to Danielson's decision to exclude testimony from an expert witness, Thompson said.
That witness, Dr. L.J. Dragovic, medical examiner for Oakland County, testified in September that Florence Unger drowned after someone placed her unconscious body into Lower Herring Lake.
Unger, who has pleaded innocent, is accused of pushing his 37-year-old wife off a boathouse as the couple and their children spent a weekend at a resort in October 2003.
