November 26, 2003TRAVERSE CITY: Get a chance to appear on MTV by hitting Streeters'Road Rules,' 'Real World' casts to be thereByRecord-Eagle staff writer TRAVERSE CITY - So you want to be America's next reality TV star? You may get your chance when the casting company Reality Casting Calls rolls into Streeters tonight to look for new talent and personalities for more than 40 upcoming reality shows. A casting call will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Traverse City entertainment complex, according to the Los Angeles-based public relations firm BWR Public Relations. The casting call is being held in conjunction with MTV's Reality Bar Crawl College Tour 2003. The 50-city tour makes a stop at the Traverse City entertainment center Wednesday through Friday to shoot video footage for a new video series. From 9 p.m. until closing each night, former cast members from MTV's "The Real World" and "Road Rules" will be signing autographs, bartending and partying with Streeters guests. Among those appearing will be Adam King, Mark Long, Eric Nies, David Giuntoli and Abram Boise, said Steven Wilson of the Los Angeles-area public relations firm BWR Public Relations. As they have in dozens of other cities on the tour, which ends Dec. 13, the Crawl's live cameras will be inside the club and on the 16-passenger tour bus to capture the interviews, fan interaction and contests taking place each night. Streeters owner Doug Streeter said tour coordinators chose to visit Traverse City during Thanksgiving week primarily because most college towns empty out during the holiday. "Reality shows are so big now you can't get on a channel without getting (one)," Streeter said. "I don't know if it's good or bad for TV, but all the college kids are coming back and watching them. I'd love to see someone from Traverse City make it on one of the reality shows." "The Real World" follows a group of strangers each season as they adjust to being roommates in an often exotic location. "Road Rules" follows another group of strangers as they compete in different places each week to accomplish a "mission," guided only by their wits and a set of clues.
