July 27, 2001Police, FBI will give details about dead body's identityCADILLAC - Police and FBI agents are expected to say this morning whether a body found near Cadillac is that of Hansel Troy Andrews of Kalkaska, who has been missing for almost a year. The Wexford and Kalkaska county sheriff's departments and the FBI are scheduled to hold a joint press conference at 11 a.m. in Cadillac to give additional information. A body was found early Saturday morning near Cadillac and was sent to Ingham County to be identified, Kalkaska Sheriff Jerry Cannon said Thursday. Andrews, 23, was last seen on Aug. 12, 2000, when he told his family he was meeting someone in Cadillac then driving to Grand Rapids to buy a car. Four days later, his pickup truck was found in Las Vegas, being driven without license plates with two men inside. Police also found what appeared to be blood in the truck. The man Andrews planned to meet, Robert Norman Ostrander II, 27, of Cadillac, was later arrested in Las Vegas on drunken driving charges from Michigan. Police considered him a suspect in Andrews' disappearance and had him extradited. Ostrander remains in jail, Cannon said. |
